BANDA ACEH, (TAG) – At least seven people,
including three children, reportedly injured in Subulussalam municipality of
Indonesia’s southern Aceh province after struck by lightning as the area was
raining along with storm Wednesday afternoon, residents said.
Some victims were on seriously conditions as all of them
had been rushed to a local hospital immediately, a local resident told the journalists.
Three of victims are students at Mardhatillah Islamic
Boarding School in the area. They hit by lightning while studying. Their teacher also hit but she is not so seriously injured.
As the lightning hit, all students panicked and tried to save themselves.
“Three children who were playing near
the school also hit by lightning,” a resident said. “Two victims’ bodies
seriously burnt.”
Minutes after the incident, all victims
rushed to local hospital for medical treatment despite heavy raining mixing with crystal ice, he said.
A week ago, an Acehnese old woman in a
remote Keuneue village of Pidie district died instantly after being hit by
lightning.
According to local residents, the victim
along with her sister were guarding the paddies. As the lightning struck, the woman
aged 56 years old was just about to go home after driving the sparrows that
interfered the paddy.[]
